The dream vacation in the making forever was finally becoming a reality. We are really off to our African Safari adventure and we can’t wait anymore!!
After some tension about possible delays in Seattle due to the Delta airlines melt down, we finally left couple hours late but still had plenty of time in Amsterdam to make our connection. Met the Chicago gang there and that was fun. Our next flight would take us to Nairobi and start of what was anticipated to be a fun trip. After some additional tension about Nagender’s passport issue in Hyderabad (he had an old hand written passport which the Kenyan embassy web page said was not accepted for entry into the country) which was thankfully resolved, we took off to Nairobi in time. Got to watch lots of movies and got to sleep a bit as well.
We landed in Nairobi at a little after ten in the night. Nagendra and Gayathri were already there and that was welcome. We were received by Alex and Martin, our guides in their rugged and awesome Toyota land-cruisers. After loading up our bags we headed to Southern Sun Mayfair hotel. Couldn’t help but notice Nairobi felt like Hyderabad in terms of roads and weather which was spring like. It was almost midnight before we settled down into our rooms and it was tome to party!! Some Jura topped with spicy snacks from Hyderabad that Nagender and Gayathri brought with them made it a fun night. Reluctantly everyone retired for the night at half past one as we had an early am departure to Ol Pejeta Ranch in Nanyuki for our first safari adventure!!
