After not drinking coffee with sugar for a long time I tried the combintation this morning and it really perked me up and I was feeling very alert for a few hours after that!! Turns out there is some scientific research that backs up why I was feeling all alert.
Apparently University of Barcelona scientists found that taking caffeine and sugar together boosts the brains performance – more than taking them separately!! I have been avoiding both coffee and sugar given my strong heart and being a sweet person but looks like a good cup of coffee with some sugar in the morning may not be a bad idea!! Even better the same article suggests that 3 cups of coffee a day might be a good way to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. All these studies are confusing because I am sure some new study will claim coffee and sugar are both bad ;-(
